Nurses 1, Arnold 0The Governor dusted off the Speedo and got
himself all oiled up to take on a group he considers special interest
epitomized.
You know them better as nurses, in this case as represented by their largest union in the state, the California Nurses Association. It's not going too well for him. The executive order that started all the trouble
— a suspension of legally mandated nurse-to-patient ratios, good for
nurses and patients and bad for profit-conscious hospital administrators —
just got struck down by a judge.
You can read about it here: A judge says Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger had no authority to suspend a law on staffing levels for nurses at California hospitals. I love it: A politically unpopular decision gets reversed, so Arnie gets no love from the hospital industry (because he didn't get the job done) but has to take the blowback for slapping around nurses. All downside, no upside. Ha ha. Posted: Fri - March 4, 2005 at 11:00 AM | Category: | | | |
