Schwarzenegger timeline(cross-posted at Daily
Kos)
USA Today has a timeline of Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger's (plummeting) approval rating. Not surprisingly, considering the source, they
omitted the margins of error. Surprisingly, however, also considering the
source, there was no graph. Maybe the graphics editor figured there'd be too
many data points for the average
reader.
Not to worry, though: I made one. Here it is: ![]() It's a lot more dramatic with what Edward Tufte calls the "lie factor" — a common feature of USA Today graphs, in fact, where the Y axis gets clipped to make the effect in question look bigger (here they would probably have run the Y from 30 to 70, so that the downward fall from the peak of 67% to the 40% present rating would span the entire height of the graph). But I respect you too much to do resort to a cheap trick like that. Posted: Fri - June 10, 2005 at 12:53 PM | Category: | | | |
