Talking point: Arnold hates old people and wants them to get beaten


Let's make another addition to to growing list of people whom Schwarzenegger doesn't like:

Nurses.
Schoolchildren.
Firefighters.
And now: The elderly.

And not AARP shock troops or pipe-wielding Gray Panthers, either.

We're talking about old people who are being abused.

Elder abuse spreading as population ages in California
(Tuscaloosa News) [...] Horrifying as the accounts are, they're becoming more commonplace in California, where the state Department of Justice estimates one in every 20 elderly people are abused or neglected but just one in five cases are reported.

About 200,000 elderly Californians suffer abuse or neglect each year - two-thirds of them by family members, officials estimated.[...]

Last September, Republican Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger vetoed a bill proposed by Democratic Attorney General Bill Lockyer to convene an elder abuse council to improve coordination among state agencies by the end of this year.


Awesome. Let's not even study the problem. Let's not even try to better coordinate existing state agencies.

He vetoed a bill to try to find ways to stop old people from getting beat up.
