Mischief for a good causeSchwarzenegger's minions are out and about (e.g.,
at Target) gathering signatures for his ballot
initiatives.
In response, California for Democracy started a grassroots effort to counter-petition wherever Arnold's henchmen are doing their dirty work. The Governator retaliated by opening a hotline where his supporters are supposed to call if they observe CFD counter-petitioners. Now this idea for a counterpunch: call their hotline and tell them that there are counter-petitioners everywhere, so that the hotline loses its credibility. Originally from a posting at DefeatArnold:
Hi Everyone-- There's a bit of logical difficulty with the idea, to be frank: First, the only place that it's credible for counter-petition activity to be taking place is where pro-Schwarzenegger petitioners are already present...which ought to be a place where counter-petitioners actually end up going. Second, there's probably no reason to assume that they aren't smart enough to do the same thing to CFD's efforts to find the pro-Schwarzenegger petitioners in the first place. Nonetheless, I reckon that more ideas are better than fewer and that information wants to be free, and furthermore that more clever individuals than those of us at Marching Orders HQ can come up with ways to use the hotline number in effective ways that can't turn around and bite us in the ass.
