Special election: The opposition is organizingThere's a great post at DEFEATARNOLD (Yahoo! Group; registration
required) about organizing the opposition against Governor
Arnold Schwarzenegger's ballot measures in the 2005 special
election.
The author of the post is Anne Smith, the
facilitator of
DEFEATARNOLD.
Launching the special election campaign Last Thursday night, I attended a large community meeting with representatives from local grassroots political groups, unions, community groups, the democratic party, the Utility Reform Network, Planned Parenthood, and many more. I wanted to give a synopsis of the meeting to get everyone started and to let those who are not in the L.A. Area know how to proceed. She goes on to outline some of the talking points against each of the Governor's ballot measures, and to describe early tactics as we move through the summer. I've excerpted here, but it's really a teaser to get you to sign up for the Yahoo! group and get the updates yourself. They generally only send one or two emails a week, and you can opt out of the notices altogether and read the group on the web instead. Remember, it's July already, and the election is in November. That gives us only our months to get organized and start spreading the word. Posted: Mon - July 11, 2005 at 07:30 AM | Category: | | | |
