Schwarzenegger weak on education

The Kindergarten Cop is perceived as being bad for California schools, says a recent poll.

God, it's nice to see a number for Arnold that's below 50%.

From the Sacramento Bee: (Yes, clever dick, that's actually the Tacoma News-Tribune. I link there to point out once again that this governor's race will be getting all kinds of national attention — even the trivial stuff like polls 18 months ahead of voting time are getting picked up nationally.)
A post-election poll of California voters, released last month, indicates that public education is their single most important political issue, and while Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's popularity remains high - 60-plus percent - just 40 percent of voters support him on schools.[...]

The specific issue is Schwarzenegger's decision not to grant schools the $4.7 billion increase in state aid the Education Coalition says is due under Proposition 98, the very complex school finance measure approved by voters in 1988. Instead, Schwarzenegger would give the schools roughly half of that, saying it's necessary to protect vital health and welfare programs.

So, let's learn from the adversary: Take this one point and harp on it, 24/7, until he has to spend all his time explaining why he's taking candy from babies. And then let's hit him again, and again, and again.

He's vulnerable on this point. This is good news. It's bad news that the kids aren't getting their money, of course, but it's still exciting for us.
