Congresswoman Hilda Solis, United Farm Workers Co-Founder Dolores Huerta, and Los Angeles County Supervisor Gloria Molina today endorsed State Treasurer Phil Angelides for Governor of California in 2006. Appearing with Angelides at the East Los Angeles Women's Center, Solis, Huerta and Molina praised Angelides as the strongest candidate for Governor because of his willingness to stand up for his values and his record of fighting for working families.
Since Angelides announced his candidacy in March, more than 160 elected officials from across California have endorsed Angelides’ candidacy. In the last month alone, dozens of elected officials have joined in endorsing the campaign, including Rep. Joe Baca, Rep. Xavier Becerra, Rep. Dennis Cardoza, Rep. Sam Farr, Rep. Barbara Lee, Rep. Adam Schiff, Rep. Mike Thompson, State Senator Wes Chesbro, State Senator Michael Machado, Assemblymember Joe Baca, Jr., Assemblymember Loni Hancock, Assemblymember Johan Klehs, Assemblymember Lloyd Levine, and Assemblymember Simon Salinas. Additionally, a number of California organizations that represent working families have endorsed Phil Angelides for Governor including the California Federation of Teachers, the Amalgamated Transit Union, California State Pipe Trades Council, International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 3, the California Conference of Machinists, and the Western States Council of Sheet Metal Workers.
