Indecent proposal: $750 for WHAT?!New York City is offering to pay up to $30 million in a class-action
settlement brought by people who were arrested on misdemeanors and subjected to
humiliating and inappropriate strip-searches under Republican '08 prospect Rudy
Giuliani's watchful eye:
The plaintiffs claimed in court papers that they were forced to "strip naked, squat, cough, and spread their legs and buttocks." If they complained about the searches, they charged, correction officers threatened or abused them and told them they would be held in "an extremely unpleasant environment." The price of their dignity? $750 a piece. (Today's inmates sit in a "body cavity scanning chair" which, it turns out, is not nearly as - er - intrusive as it sounds.) Meanwhile, the other New York-based 2008 presidential prospect, Hillary Clinton, has called for a federal investigation of the video game "Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas." She wants to make sure that a teen who can go to Google and watch unlimited hardcore sex scenes with a few clicks of the mouse will NOT be able to go there, download a software code, install it on his video game player, run it, unlock hidden scenes in the game, and then watch animated characters have simulated computer graphic sex. No word yet on whether she will be investigating the new "Grand Theft Auto: Body Orifice Scan" as well. (Editor's note: For those of you who are wondering what all the fuss is about regarding Grand Theft Auto, a .wmv video clip of the controversial "hot coffee" mod is just a click of the mouse away. Warning: The clip depicts interracial carnality, a juvenile attitude about orgasm, and at least one instance of hittin' it from the back. — Chris) Posted: Thu - July 14, 2005 at 02:07 PM | Category: | | | |
