This might be a slow couple of days for me...

...while I resolve a couple of server-related and Google-related issues.

Just wanted to let you know. I'll be updating at least once daily but probably not five or six times throughout the day as had been my usual pattern.

One of my main frustrations at the moment is that Googlebot (the machine that indexes web sites for Google.com) appears to be unwilling to crawl the new site. Ever since we moved to marchingorders.org, our new content isn't getting indexed. Back on homepage.mac.com, we got crawled often, and a decent 50% of the traffic was from Google and other search engine hits. I had the pleasure of knowing that the readership was being built by search engine traffic, as well as a fair number of serious chuckles about the fact that some pretty high-ranking Democrats apparently have nothing better to do than Google themselves and write to small-time bloggers.

The upshot of not getting indexed is that I'm ticked off and less willing to write original content because I know it isn't getting out there, so I want to figure out what's up Googlebot's ass before I spend a lot of time writing articles that don't get read.

Thanks to you loyal readers, of course; you know who you are. Keep reading and I'll be back up to normal speed in a couple of days, hopefully.

Cheers,

Chris
