Ouroboros

I keep meaning to get back into a regular schedule with this blog, but it just ain't happenin'. Time is too short; others do a better job of covering the issues in a timely fashion anyway.

We're back

For both of you who noticed, we were down for ten days. Chris was trapped under heavy furniture.

Gone marchin'

Marching Orders will be inactive from now until Monday, June 27th. I'll be camping (!), off the grid and completely without internet access during that time.

Confidential to Night Light

This is a bloggers vs. bloggers thing and therefore of limited interest to the casual reader (though I sometimes wonder how many casual readers there really are in the blogosphere, and to what extent blogging has blurred the distinction between producers and consumers of journalism/"journalism"), so I won't go into too much detail. If you care about the internal politics of the liberal blogosphere, however, do read on.

Standing tall against the Minutemen

A group of immigrant-bashing vigilantes is preparing to expand their operations into California. The "Minutemen" enjoy the enthusiastic support of our Governor, who is taking a leaf from Pete Wilson's book and targeting the most vulnerable and reviled minority group in California in order to score points with conservative and "moderate" (unaligned white suburban) voters.

Thankfully, the immigrants are bashing back.

Steve Westly will run for Governor

I have said before and I'll say again that the phenomenon of announcing one's intention to announce one's candidacy is one of the more boneheaded aspects of modern political management of the news cycle — the press will slavishly and dutifully report that a candidate is in but not officially in, and then when the time comes to be in officially, give them a round of above-the-fold coverage, just like the candidate wants.

Movin' on up

This last week saw a doubling in traffic to Marching Orders, which I consider to be very promising.

Perhaps even more important: Comments tripled and email quintupled. Keep them coming!

This might be a slow couple of days for me...

...while I resolve a couple of server-related and Google-related issues.

Just wanted to let you know. I'll be updating at least once daily but probably not five or six times throughout the day as had been my usual pattern.

MarchingOrders.org is up!

I just put the blog up on a real (non-dot-mac) server, with a suitable domain name:

http://MarchingOrders.org

Check it out and spread the word. We're out of beta and I'll have to grow some journalistic ethics (and marketing savvy) in a hurry.

Have a great long weekend! Plus: Exciting domain name news

I'm going to Tahoe until Tuesday, to honor our beloved Presidents by reading, gambling, inner-tubing (if my poor hurt ankle is up to it), driving a borrowed hybrid SUV, and engaging in copious president-honoring libations.

Blog announcement: Comments

Marching Orders now has comments. Which means we'll soon have trolls. I'm so excited.

Powered by Haloscan. Implementation was just exactly as easy as they promised, in case you're shopping.
